Bill's Workout Routine:
"I am fortunate enough to have a gym in both my office and our homes. I try to exercise 5 days a week. Three days a week, I work out with a trainer. It’s a 1 hour session consisting of leg and upper body workouts. I try to vary the routine so as not to get too bored or too accustomed to a particular workout. I still get a little sore after most workouts because I push myself fairly hard. But I have to be a little bit more careful with my knees and shoulder joints now that I'm older!"
A Day In The Life of Bill Farley:
In the morning, I take Zrii products, plus some herbal tea. I tend to read 5 newspapers: the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, USA Today, and occasionally the Financial Times. I read my emails and try to respond immediately.
Usually, I schedule a workout some time between 11am and 2pm. My mornings and afternoons consist mainly of phone calls, conference calls, correspondence, and travel. If I am in Chicago and working out of my office downtown (located in the Sears Tower), I usually leave the office around 6:30 or 6:45pm.
I try to pick up my 17-year-old son, Liam, after his golf/basketball/volleyball practice. Dinner is usually around 7:30pm. I might then catch up on some reading … maybe watch a little TV … maybe do a little homework with Liam (if he lets me -- that’s a big if!). I go to bed between 11pm and 12am.
Additional Thoughts on Life:
I have always felt very fortunate, and feel even more so at this stage in my life. I’ve been on the highest mountain tops, but also in the deepest valleys (I’ve had difficult times). I feel that I have a pretty good perspective on life at this point.
I really enjoy spending time with my sons (Liam, Scott and Hayes) and their wives (Kate and Ali). They are all doing so well, and I truly enjoy seeing them advancing in their careers and in life.
I am passionate about mentoring people.
I love to travel. I find it very interesting, broadening, and fun. I never thought I would enjoy golf so much, but as you get older it becomes a sport that gets more interesting. When I’m home, my dog Owen is a great companion. He loves to sit next to me and get his ears rubbed.
